bullet  General Notes:

Jerome spent his boyhood days in Indiana and Wisconsin coming to Iowa in 1865. A list of Shelby County Marriages lists a Jerome Loffer applying for a marriage certificate, but never marrying a Lillian Phelps in 1875. He was married to Sarah Eliza Mullin at Dunlap, Iowa in 1880 and the family moved to a farm north of Shelton in 1896.

Jerome married Sarah Eliza Mullen, daughter of John Mullen and Amanda Barnhardt, in 1880 in Dunlap, Harrison, Iowa, U.S. (Sarah Eliza Mullen was born on 11 Jan 1864 in Putnam, Putnam County, Illinois, died on 14 Mar 1916 and was buried in Shelton, Buffalo, Nebraska.)

bullet  Marriage Notes:

<b> The information on the place of marriage comes from the Loffer Family Bible, which my grandfather, Roy, possessed until abut 1985. It was supposed to be passed on to the oldest living male Loffer, and since my grandparents had no sons, it was given to his brother's oldest son, Robert Loffer, but its current whereabouts are unknown.

I requested copies of the marriage license and certificate from Harrison County, but they show no record of their marriage. The same is true of Shelby County, Iowa, directly east of Harrison.[chlauffer.FTW]
