bullet  General Notes:

Carol was very much like her Mother in that she loved to cook and bake. Some of her best dishes were baked carrots, warm blueberry muffins, a chicken noodle casserole always prepared at Christmas, marshmallow fudge, baked ham, scalloped potatoes, and Calypso pie.
She made her share of placemats, afghans, crewel pictures, and embroidered tablecloths over the years. She kept her home immaculate and dedicated her life to raising two beautiful children.
The Christmas holidays were always special to Carol as she prepared meals for her family -- trimming her Christmas tree, baking her holiday cookies, wrapping gifts, decorating her home, and making "snow cake." This is a Christmas tradition that started many years ago when she and Fred lived in Dorseyville. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Every evening, she turned on the lights on the tree, as well as the candles in the windows, and in the little miniature houses she displayed in various rooms, giving each room a warm and cozy glow. Christmas music plays softly in the background, lending a peaceful atmosphere to family gatherings. One can almost hear Perry Como's version of --- "I'll Be Home For Christmas." Her wish for a perfect Christmas Eve was to see snow on a crisp, cold evening following the candlelight service at Salem United Church of Christ. No wonder, her favorite song was "Still, Still, Still." an old Austrian Christmas carol. Even the first verse mentions snow -- "Still, Still, Still, one can hear the falling snow." This is the only time of the year where at the end of the service, each person holds high a singularly lit candle while singing "Silent Night" - a German Christmas carol that pertains to our Germanic background. With almost 400 people in attendance, seeing the church lit entirely by candlelight, is an awesome experience. Then everyone extinguishes their candle and leaves quietly. At the end of the worship service, we all went back to the house and enjoyed Christmas hors d'oeuvres and waited for Santa to arrive.
Carol is now at home where that special Christmas can be experienced throughout eternity. Carol passed from this world on August 16, 2007 due to non-Hogkins lymphoma. Her last days were made as comfortable as possible with the dedication and love from family, and especially from her sister, Linda. Carol will remain in the hearts of those who knew her as she now rests in His hands.
