Helen Elizabeth Rosensteel

  General Notes:

Helen Elizabeth was born on Hamilton Street in the Ludwick section of Greensburg. The house still stands there today - a large red insulbrick home. She devoted her entire life to her husband and the raising of their two daughters. She loved to cook, bake, and kept her home immaculate. Her library of cookbooks attests to the fact that she had used them many times. She also liked to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt and sew - all hobbies that she did throughout her lifetime.
In 1952 she went to work for Dr. John F. Maurer, a radiologist in downtown Greensburg. She worked for Dr. Maurer for thirteen years, until 1965. Her sister, Dorothy Hough, also worked with her during this time.
Spending time with her family was most enjoyable for her. Any time there was a family gathering, she would prepare a meal fit for a king. Her favorite dishes to prepare --- stuffed peppers, tuna casserole, apple dumplings, roast beef with mashed potatoes, ham loaf with scalloped potatoes, meat loaf, potato salad, and baked chicken. Of course, there were also many side dishes --- applesauce, jello salads, and pickled eggs and beets. Her favorite cookies to bake are chocolate chip, orange, and gingersnap. Helen Elizabeth was a loving and caring wife and mother, and will be missed - but will be remembered with joy.
