bullet  General Notes:

They had two children, a son and a daughter, both died in infancy. On the day of his death at age 72, he walked uptown to buy a loaf of bread for his wife, Ella. He hailed a gasoline truck at a stop sign at Conrad's main intersection and talked to the driver for a few moments. He had placed the sack containing the loaf of bread on the side of the truck. After the truck started away, he apparently remembered the package, for witnesses said later that Lee hurried after the slowly-moving vehicle, grabbed the door handle with one hand and tried to step onto the running board. His foot slipped and he fell beneath the rear wheel. A skull fracture caused instantaneous death. His nephew, Fred Coulter, Sr. happened to be in town and to him fell the sad task of carrying the unhappy tidings to the unsuspecting widow in her home just a few blocks away.
