Daniel Horning was born April 6, 1831 in Lower Salford Twp, Montgomery Co, Pa. to William & Hannah Price Horning. They moved to Montgomery Co, Ohio in 1840. Daniel was married to Sevilla Brenner Apri. 5, 1855. In 1863 they moved to Chester Twp., Wabash Co, In and settled on a farm. He was a man of undoubted integrity and the highest honesty, kind , just and generous. He was a hard working man but probably no farmer in the county had his farming affairs better arranged for comfort than he. He was a trustee and faithful member of the German Baptist & Brethern Church and also trustee of the old folk home.

He died of typhoid fever on Oct. 16, 1890. He was buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery two miles west of No. Manchester. The funeral was of the largest ever held at the Church, many people were unable to gain entrance to the large church.
