Richard retired as an engineer from Conrail May 30, 1980.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Simpson enjoyed "Jeopardy," "Wheel Of Fortune," and playing dominoes with his family. He was a member of Veterans of Wars No. 3 of Altoona, Casare Battisti of Altoona and South Greensburg Sportsman's Club.
Mr. Simpson's obituary was written by family members in Altoona, PA. We are not sure if it was oversight or intentional that his first marriage was left out of the obituary. Also, Mr. Simpson only had one natural child - Richard Simpson, Jr. He had one son, two grandsons, and two great-grandsons at the time of his death.
Richard married Margaret Stiffler. (Margaret Stiffler was born on 12 May 1929 and died on 26 Jul 1994 in Altoona, Blair Co., PA.)
