bullet  General Notes:

Lorentz emigrated from Germany with Christian in 1731 and his mother and stepfather.
"Lawrence Lawfer, Philadelphia, was naturalized 24 Sept. 1741. He was a merchant.

Marriage and birth of first child, Catharina, information is from St. Paul's Church, Red Hill, Montgomery County, PA.

From Philadelphia Probate Records, Administration #44, 1757; "Laurence Lawfer, deceased; adm. bond taken out by Michael Long, George Sheafer and £200, 12 Jan. 1757. Note: Michael Long married Margaret Lawfer, widow of the deceased, who is unable to travel, being big with child. Documents in the probate packet include accounting of Michael Long, and also the inventory of Lorentz Laffer, late in Oley Hills, Berks County, Turner. "Additional children information is derived from Berks County Court petition by Philip Laufer, eldest son. This information is subjective as to relationship to Lorentz since it refers to "Laurence Laufer's" widow as "Racheael".

"The petition of Philip Laufer, eldest son and heir at law of Laurence Laufer, late of Rockland Twp., Berks Co.; that your petitioner's said father died about 30 years since intestate leaving a widow "Rachael" and issue six children, to wit: Phillip Laufer, the petitioner, Eve the wife of John Nichols Bader, Elizabeth the wife of Jacob Boover, and Catharine who is since deceased leaving three children by her husband Conrad Rauenzan; to wit Conrad, George Adam and Magdalena Rauenzan. Laurence Laufer died owning a certain tract of land in Rockland Twp. adj lands of Gotlob Weida, Ester Kucher and others containing 75 acres. Petitioner prays for an inquest to make partition to divide the premises to and among the children or appraise the same. Dated 21 March 1796. It was determined the property could not be divided and it was valued at £445. The eldest son, Philip Laufer, accepted the property at valuation, and gave bonds to the other heirs."
