Attended Clawson public school near the farm. Bituminous coal miner for 12 years in Salina. Employed for a time in a foundry at Avonmore, PA, until January 1918, when he was appointed agent at Avonmore for the Adams Express Company.
John married Elizabeth "Rose Ellen" Anderson on 23 May 1888 in Leechburg, By Rev. David H. Sloan (Presby). (Elizabeth "Rose Ellen" Anderson was born in Oct 1856, died in 1944 and was buried in St. James - Moved To Westview.)
