bullet  General Notes:

Sarah was originally documented with the surname "Hooker". This seems to be in error. Other correspondence and research show this to be Hugus.

Christian & Sara (Hugus) Lauffer owned a portion of Sewickly Manor (Lot 8), that is now at the West End of Pleasant Unity. This was bought from the Penns 18 Mar 1794, DB 2:65. It was 180-197 acres, on both sides of Rt. 130 (See Map 224, "Original Warrants & Surveys".) They sold off portions of this Lot 8 in 1794 & 1795: DB 2:100-101 - 26 acres to Samuel Robinson, 25 Apr. 1794 DB 2:271-273 - 55 acres to Peter Miller, 25 Apr. 1794 (Laffer retains right to water, dam and sawmill). DB 2, pt.2: 562-565 - 98 acres to Oliver Mitchell, 5 June 1795. [See Notes for Christian Lauffer, Sr., his father, for more on this land]
Christian & Sara sold land in Hempfield Township. to Jacob Hugus, brother of Sara. DB 2:518 - 55 acres to Jacob Hugus & Catherine of Hempfield Township 27 June 1796. Jacob Hugus (clockmaker) then subdivided this land into 31 lots called "Adamsburgh".
Sara Hugus Lauffer died about 18/19 Oct. 1802, shortly after the birth of her 7th child, Maria, on 29 Sept. 1802. The baptismal record for Maria on 21 Oct 1802 says that Sara was buried on same day as the baptism. (Vol. 2, p. 231 of "German Church records" by Paul Miller Ruff. Records for most of their children are in this vol.)
