He ia a Volunteer Fireman and Chief. He restores John Deere tractors and raises bird dogs. In his retirement, he works for the Illinois Deartment of Natural Resources.
His wife, Lou Ann (Carroll) Lawfer, she is descended from the original founding family of colonial Maryland. One of her ancestors shoveled the first dirt for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
After high school, he worked for several years at the local Ford dealership, which eventually led to his becoming business owner of Stockton Auto Body Shop.
Richard married Lou Ann Carroll.
