He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, 348th Engineer Combat Battalion. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the former Gould, Brown, Boveri Co. of South Greensburg. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Youngwood. He was also a member of VFW Post 211 in Youngwood, the A&B Club of Youngwood, American Legion Post 981 in South Greensburg, the A.M.S. Club of South Greensburg, and the Brown-Boveri Co. Veterans Association, for which he had served as treasurer.
William married Frances Johns.
