Simon, age 50, Joan, his wife (age 38), and their children, Francis Stone, age 16, Ann Stone, age 11, Simon Stone, age 4, Marie Stone, Age 3 and John Stone, age 5 weeks, were listed as passengers on the ship "Increase". They probably arrived in America in July. They settled in Watertown in August 1636. Gregory Stone was the youngest brother of Simon. Simon Stone joined the church in Watertown and became a freeman of the Massachusetts Bay Colony on May 25, 1636. He was selectman of Watertown in 1636, 1640, 1641, 1650 and 1655 and he was elected a deacon of the Watertown Church. He was active in community affairs. Joan Stone died before 1654 having had at least seven children. Simon then married in 1655 Mrs. Sarah (Baker) Lumpkin, widow of Richard Lumpkin of Ipswich, MA. Sarah had no children and died in July of 1663. Simon died in Watertown on September 22, 1665 in his eightieth year and was buried in the Old Watertown Cemetery about three-quarters of a mile northwest of his homestead.
