John Phillips

  General Notes:

The baptism records of the children of John Phillips in Northfarnham Parish give his wife's name as Elizabeth. It appears that Elizabeth predeceased John and he remarried a woman named Mary. Elizabeth must have died after the birth of her last child in 1690. There is some discussion that Elizabeth's maiden name may have been Tobias, but it appears that she was the daughter of Mary Bryan(t). Mary Bryan, widow, gave a Deed of Gift to Thomas, Robert and Eliza Bryan in 1656. John and Elizabeth Phillips' children were baptized as follows: 1. Elizabeth 12/03/1674 2. John 12/23/1676, 3. Bryant 2/13/1677-8 4. Mary 10/07/1681 5. Thomas 10/27/1684 6. Tobias 1/12/1686-7 7. Anne 9/23/1690. It it is significant that John and Elizabeth Phillips named their second son Bryant and their second daughter Mary. They may have been named after the parents of Elizabeth.

John married Elizabeth Bryan. (Elizabeth Bryan was born about 1650.)
