bullet  General Notes:

My Beamer line comes from Jacob Boehmer through Johann (married to Eva Butenborg) and Philip Beamer (b. 1797 Piney Creek, MD, d. 1875 Westmoreland County, PA). >From info sent to me by Marjorie Kern, Jacob (or possibly his father) was one of three brothers who emigrated from Switzerland. They were originally from Germany, but left for Switzerland due to religious persecution (they were reformed). Marjorie found the grave of Philip Baemer in the cemetery of the Reformed Church in Taneytown. His will was witnessed by Michael Bottenburg. Philip had children John (probably the Johann married to Eva Butenborg), Henry, Catherine and Mary (married to Aucher/Ocker - the Philip Beamer b. 1797 had a sibling John who married Anna Maria Aucher). There may be some real problems with getting everyone in the right generation.

Anyway, is there any info in the book of Beamer lore that several people have mentioned that ties in with this history? Does anyone else have stories about coming from Switzerland?

Sherri, you mentioned a Simon Beamer coming to America on the Glasgow in 1738. The passenger list for that ship that I have (from Thirty Thousand Naamess of Immigrants in Pennsylvania) doesn't list Simon, but does list a Heinrich Booemmer and Johan Adam Boemmer. Johan Phillippus Boehmer and JHohan Wilhelm Boehmer are listed as passengers on the Neptune in 1751.
