William James Rumbaugh

Served in the Civil War. Enlisted at Putneyville, PA on July 4, 1861. At age 34, he was 6 feet tall, dark complexion, brown eyes, black hair, laborer -Stated by Captain Commanding laborer -Stated D, 62nd RPV, August 2, 1863. He lost his leg at Yorktown. After the war, he moved to West Virginia. When his father moved most of his family to IN, William, Nancy, and cousin Solomon remained in Western PA. Name also recorded as Rumbach.
William married Catherine W. Wick on 14 Feb 1850 in Pennsylvania. (Catherine W. Wick was born about 1831 in Butler County, PA and died in 1907 in West Virginia.)
