bullet  General Notes:

Flora migrated to America, leaving Glasgow and arriving in New York on February 8, 1913.

Flora lived in Scotland, England, Pennsylvania and Ohio. She was a small but strong woman who brought her children into America to Pittsburgh. She moved to Canfield, Ohio, on to Newton Falls and then to Warren, Ohio. Her husband died during the depths of the Great Depression and was left with no support. Flora gathered her children together and, under her strict guidance, managed to get her family through these extreme times. She took in washing, grew vegetables, and the family worked a variety of jobs. They pooled the meager earnings to survive. She was a stanch Scot that had no room for "foreigners". Her children could not date or even talk with people like Italians, Germans, or others. The irony in this is Flora was probably married into Italian blood lines. The Ambrose line is not Scottish and very likely came from Italy through a sailor coming into the Glasgow area. Attempts are being made to verify this. No evidence has been found to tie this Ambrose line to and Italian line, 2003.

Flora lived in an apartment in the center of Warren where she always had cookies and scones baking for the grandchildren or anyone else dropping by for a visit.
