bullet  General Notes:

JOHN HORNING received from his father's will, the farm valued at £800. His older brother PETER had already departed for Upper Canada and the father was trying to equalize the value of the estate among the children. So it was common in those days to set a value on the property. The son receiving this property had to pay a portion of this value to his brothers and sisters. In this case JOHN was committed to pay his three sisters £100 each.
Unfortunately JOHN did not live long to enjoy this heritage. He died on 8 December 1803, only 18 months after his father.
An abstract of JOHN HORNING'S will is shown below taken from Montgomery County Will Book 2 Page 364.
To wife Elizabeth Household goods, income of farms and land during her widowhood. If she marries, to have interest of £300. To son Jacob farm at valuation.
