bullet  General Notes:

Levi Kemp was born to German immigrants, Gerhardt and Regina Stroh Kemp in 1798. He lived most of his life in Hempfield Township, where he and his wife, Mary, raised 14 children.
In 1849, Levi was elected County Commissioner in Greensburg. His name still appears today, honoring that position, along with James Shields and John W. Marshall, on the Bells Mills Covered Bridge near Madison PA.
There is also a stained-glass window in the First Reformed United Church of Christ, South Maple Avenue, Greensburg, given by his son, Uriah Kemp, commemorating Levi's memory. The window illustrates a lion with wings. Levi's name appears on the brass nameplate at the bottom of the window; the second window on the right side of the church as you face the altar.
