Jacob Laufer was the youngest son of Peter, the Revolutionary shoemaker. He was married to Elizabeth Strauss and two years after this marriage, he died of Pneumonia. A son born three months after his death was his only descendant. He died at age 28 years and was interred in the cemetery at Old Stone church. A temporary slab was erected and the exact date of his death was not obtainable during the Lauffer history research of 1900. His wife Elizabeth Strauss was later married to Jacob Shutt by whom she had a large family.
