Donald A. Calhoun, Sr., was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. Lodge 373, the Santa Anna United Methodist Church and the Green Township Farm Bureau. In his younger years he bought a buggy and a western horse for $25 and enjoyed racing them with the neighbor boys, he could out run most of them. In 1918 he bought a year old model T Ford. He drove a team of horses for two years and helped build gravel roads. Pay was $1.50 per day.
